Tips to visualize like a clairvoyant

I can't tell you how many times a client told me, “I can't see" in meditation.

While aphantasia (the inability to visualize or see in your mind's eye) does exist, it’s actually quite rare.

I have yet to work with a client who couldn’t “see” in some capacity, even with the number of neurodivergent clients in my community where aphantasia can be more common.

Despite its stereotype as predictive visions, clairvoyance (the psychic sense of seeing in the mind’s eye) can be used for far more practical applications. Seeing in the mind’s eye can help us connect with our heart and body, nurture a creative project, or unlock truths about what we desire in life.

My clairvoyance helps me write poetry, visualize and outline a meditation practice, remember words, read my body’s energy, and so much more. And I’m someone who doesn’t consider seeing to be my strongest sense.

Here are few techniques you can try to nurture clearer visualizations in your mind's eye.

Lighting and Environment

  • Use dim, soft lighting or an eye covering to reduce visual distractions

  • Create a quiet, comfortable meditation space where you will not be disturbed (and won’t fall completely asleep)

Play with Posture

  • Experiment with different positions (lying down, sitting, standing, gentle rocking)

  • Find what helps you feel most relaxed and receptive

Intention and Expectations

  • Set a clear, positive intention before meditation

  • Practice regularly to build visualization skills

  • Don't force images; allow them to emerge naturally

  • Write down what you see, even if it seems fragmented

Visualization Practices

  • Start with simple objects you’ve seen before like fruits or familiar spaces

  • Practice visualizing details (texture, color, movement)

  • Use guided meditations that invite sensory exploration

  • Try visualizing from different perspectives like you’re in a video game (bird's eye view, close-up, zoom in and out)

Sensory Integration

  • Notice physical sensations accompanying visualizations

  • Pay attention to emotions or bodily responses

  • Allow multiple senses to interact during visualization (feeling, hearing, knowing, tasting/smelling)

Timing and Frequency

  • Experiment with different times of day

  • Practice when you feel most creative or relaxed

  • Be consistent but gentle with yourself

My specialty is integrating the sensory and with intuition. Try one of my meditations or join one of my workshops to experience this for yourself.

Have Patience and Grace for your Variability

“Seeing” can be any range of color and light to symbols to full-on movie-like scenes. Your intuition can show up differently every day. Even the context can change how the messages come through. Expect variability and the images will come more freely and at your own pace.
